Finnforel has appointed Mikko Saarela as Production Director. He started in his role on March 2, 2026, and is based at the Varkaus facility.
Saarela is responsible for Finnforel’s integrated production chain, from broodstock and fry production in Hatsina to grow-out and processing operations in Varkaus. He reports to the CEO.
The recruitment process emphasized strong experience in production leadership, analytical and strategic capability, and a systematic approach to operational development in collaboration with personnel.
Saarela brings extensive and diverse experience from the process industry and water technology. He has previously worked as Production Manager at UPM and Hansaprint. Prior to joining Finnforel, he served as Production Director at Suomen Kovabetoni.
