FINNFOREL’S SOLAR POWER PLANT EXPANDS

The capacity of the solar power plant, which has been in use since 2020 at Finnforel’s fish farm in Varkaus, will almost triple with the expansion of the new fish farm. After the 654 kWp expansion of the solar power plant based on the Omavoimala.fi concept, the production power of the Varkaus production facility has increased to over Megawatts (MW). It corresponds to 800 Megawatt hours (MWh) per year. At its best, the solar power plant produces more than a third of the energy needed for the day. The energy obtained from the solar power plant is used 100% for the production processes of fish farming. The amount of energy produced is monitored with a real-time counter.

“The expansion of the solar power plant is a step forward towards wider utilization of renewable energy and a sustainable future. Recirculated aquaculture system needs energy, and with the help of the new power plant, our own energy production will increase significantly, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and working for a cleaner environment.”
